SC Innovations - CASE AZ Groeninge: Simulation model optimises internal distribution logistics

AZ Groeninge will soon move to a new hospital and consolidate the activities for 71 services, departments and centers, from 3 campuses to 1 new location.

The distribution of the goods to the various departments and end customers had to be redesigned in order to distribute as efficiently as possible.

In order to provide insight into this complex process and to see to what extent the  objectives were achieved, simulation was used. The purpose of the simulation in this case was to predetermine the optimal occupancy and the schedules of the logistics employees in function of the defined performance indicators.
